Musicians Serving Musicians since 1976

The Band Room was founded by three Army Veterans, Carlton R. Morris, Jerry M. Wright and Kenneth C. Wood. Mr. Morris was a Chief Warrant Officer Bandmaster, and he and Spc. 4 Jerry Wright met at Fort Hood, Texas in 1970. Following their discharge, they were in the restaurant business until they opened The Band Room in 1976.

In 1978, First Cavalry Division Bandsman, Ken C. Wood learned that Mr. Morris was a former Army Bandmaster and approached him for private lessons. Through this association, Ken became a Partner in The Band Room.

The Band Room is the home of The Heights Concert Band, which was founded and conducted by Carlton R. Morris. This adult, volunteer band has been playing free public concerts for over forty years.

The Band Room has grown to three locations and continues to specialize in service to school band programs. The Band Room is an Authorized Dealer for the top manufacturers in the industry.

Mr. Morris passed in 2017, and since that time, Ken and Jerry have continued the mission of service of The Band Room and The Heights Concert Band which is now led by Randy Kelley.
